Obituary Request

The Tulare County Library will search for obituaries at no cost to patrons residing in the San Joaquin Valley Library System (SJVLS) service area. Obituary requests can be made via email or by submitting a research request form.

Requests from patrons outside the SJVLS service area, require a $3.00 donation or more per obituary. Please send a check to the Tulare County Library Foundation for $3.00 care of Tulare County Library History Room with your Obituary Request. The funds help to support the work of the volunteers and staff to provide these services.

If the exact date of the obituary notice is unknown, we will search newspapers printed a maximum of 7 days after the date of death.

Obituaries from the Tulare Advance-Register or the Porterville Recorder or Evening Recorder are not available at the Tulare County Library, but can be retrieved from the Tulare Public Library and Porterville City Library.
